Take order from us henceforth before carrying out operations, Nigerian Governors tell security agencies

The Governors of the southern states of Nigeria have declared that, henceforth security agencies must inform them before embarking on any operation in their territory, and also posited that the region must produce the next President of the country.

Penpushing reports that, this decision was contained in a communiqué issued on Monday at the end of their meeting held in Lagos State, hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, where other national issues were discussed ,

“At the Southern Governors Forum today, we discussed several issues of national importance including reemphasising the need for state police. We resolved that if security agencies are to carry out an operation in a state, they must duly inform the state’s sitting governor’, the meeting emphasised.

The Governors also re-emphasised the need for a state police, as well as resolved that  all southern Nigeria states should have anti-open grazing laws in place by September 1, 2021,and equally resolved that deductions from the Federation Account for the Nigeria Police security Trust Fund should be shared between the states and  federal government to fight insecurity.

.Penpushing further  reports that the Governors, on the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill, rejected the proposed 3 per cent share of the oil revenue to the host community and supported 5 per cent,and in same vein, rejected the proposed 30 per cent share of profit for the exploration of oil and gas in the basins.

The Governors in attendance  included, Babajide Sawo-Olu(Lagos), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Philip Shaibu,(Deputy governor of Edo),  representing Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Penpushing also reports that,others were Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Kayode Fayemi( Ekiti), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun(Ogun), and Seyi Makinde( Oyo).

Meanwhile, it is recalled that, the Department of Security Service(DSS) raided the home of a Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called ‘Igboho’, on Thursday, killing two persons in the process, whom they alleged were armed.
