Kidnappers killed while collecting ransom

The strong desire  of two members of kidnap  syndicate to collect ransom, following abduction of some victims in Kogi state, has claimed their lives, as they were shot dead  by local hunters when they were collecting ransom for the release of their victims.

Penpushing reports that, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yahaya Bello of the State,. Onogwu Mohammed confirmed the development, adding that the criminals were ambushed by local hunters .

“Following actionable intelligence report, professional hunters in Okehi Local Government Area of the state ambushed the kidnappers who came out in Abobo area behind Nigerian Iron Ore Mining Company, Itakpe to collect the ransom demanded before the release of their victims.”

Penpushing further reports that, the Chief Press Secretary in the statement said, the gang comprised of three, adding that two were shot dead on the spot, while the third suspect escaped into the bush with bullets wound

The Divisional Police Officer, Okehi Local Government Area, Ovanja Yakubu, also confirming the  incident said men of the Nigerian Police were on the trail of the escaped suspect with assurance that he would be arrested.

 Penpushing also reports that, Governor  Bello while reacing to the development said criminal elements are known to members of the public, declaring that the state will not accommodate any criminal.

The Governor said he was elected and sworn-in to protect the lives and property of the people and will ensure such covenant is kept for posterity, just as he. also commended the professional hunters for complementing other security agencies in the in rooting out criminal elements from the state.
