The trial of Abidemi Rufai who is facing $350,000 fraud charges in the United States of America (USA) has been slated for August 31,as the court ordered that he should be moved from detention in New York to Washington for commencement of the trial

Penpushing reports that the United States of America (USA). District judge, Benjamin Settle of Tacoma gave the order, with further directed that he would not be granted bail, having being considered as a flight risk.

The Acting United States of America(USA) Attorney, Tessa Gorma, had earlier in a documents filed at a United States Courthouse, in Tacoma, Washington, on June 23, alleged that Rufai misled the court by presenting before the court a surety he barely knew as his friend.

Penpushing also reports that, the judge  agreed with federal prosecutors that the accused poses a a serious  flight risk and on-appearance, a decision reached after Acting  Attorney, Tessa Gorma, accused  Rufai of participating in fraudulent surety scheme

‘The defendant poses a serious risk of non-appearance. No condition or combination of conditions can reasonably assure the defendant’s appearance as required” the court declared

Meanwhile, Rufai a former aide to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State was on May 14, arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York while heading to Nigeria, his home country
