The daughter of Kudirat Abiola who was assassinated by the dictatorship administration of late General Sanni Abacha on Saturday remembered her late mother with optimism that the experience of negation will be a distant memory.
Penpushing reports that, Hafsat Abiols-Costello in a five paragraph statement noted that, June 5,2021 marked the twenty-five anniversary of her mother’s death, noting that it occurred at a time Nigeria and few other countries are experience violent conflicts in which democracies still struggling to protect lives
‘Today is the 25th anniversary of my mum’s death. It occurs at a time in which Nigeria and a few other countries in the region are experiencing violent conflicts, in which our democracies struggle to protect lives’, she stated.
Penpushing reports that, the bereaved said she was not ready to share the photographs of her late mother, explaining that ,so that many would not be wondering about with their hearts buried with their loved ones, just as she symphatised with many newly bereaved
‘In a world where black lives matter, I would not need to share my mother’s photo on this day. So many would not be wandering about with their hearts buried with their loved ones. My condolences to the many newly bereaved’.
‘And my promise. We will come to a day, we will arrive at an hour when the world looks on blackness and sees the first of the human race, whole and complete. The experience of negation will be but a distant memory’,.
‘On that day, at that hour, neither our gold nor any other form of wealth will blind our neighbours and co-travellers from seeing our humanity. We will be together, in loving community. Our currency will be kindness and we will be wealthy beyond imagining.
‘For my dearest Kudi, for my one and only MKO, for the thousands that we have already lost this year, across our countries; for the countless number we have lost through the centuries, I will work for this’, she wrote.
