The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Thursday offered a scholarship to a 13 year old student of NawarDeen Grammar School, Obantoko Abeokuta, Precious Oyinbo for her academic excellence at the Children’s Day Ceremony held at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta
Penpushing reports that, the Governor was impressed with Precious intelligence, fluency and boldness during her citation on the responsibilities of the Nigerian Child, a performance which also excited guests and other education stakeholders in the state .
The Governor declared that the scholarship will cover the cerebral student to university level, and ordered his Special Adviser on Basic Primary and Secondary Education,, Mrs Ronke Soyombo to start working modalities for the scholarship with immediate effect.
“Our children education is our first priority and let us support them and provide all necessary facilities in assisting them, our children are our future. Children Day has become significant which should not be only for children but to the entire nation /I also appreciate our wonderful parents for their support’, Abiodun stated,
‘Children deserve to be celebrated everyday because they are the leaders of tomorrow. I also appreciate my wonderful wife, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun for supporting me always, dignitaries in the house and our teachers, because teachers are the nation”
Penpushing further reports that, the beneficiary of the gesture in her remarks disclosed that she came from a poor family and expressed appreciation to the Governor and the state government for the honour bestowed on her, with assurance that she would not disappoint the state and her family.
The girl who disclosed that her ambition is to become a Medical Doctor, recalled that she had been ruminating on how this would be possible considering her poor family background ,and expressed optimism of coming out in flying colour at the end of the day.
