The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Labor Matters, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo on Wednesday warned the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-rufai to respect rule of law and follow due process before sacking workers in the state.

Penpushing reports that Titilola-Sodo gave the caution note while speaking on Wednesday in at the Correspondents chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Oyo State Council, in Ibadan

The former Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress(NLC) stated that Kaduna State does not belong to El-rufai family where the governor can just wake up in a day and sack workers indiscriminately on mere allegations.

Penpushing further reports that, Titilola-Sodo who threw his weight behind the workers on their agitation declared that the Governor ought to follow due process before taking any action relating to labour matter.

“I am with labour in Kaduna state. Kaduna is not El-Rufai and sons investment, therefore, the Governor cannot wake up in a day to pronounce some workers are sacked. Due process must be followed to disengaged workers’, he emphasided.

Penpushing also reports that in related development Governor Makinde has alleviated suffering of workers in the state, compared to how it used to be in the past, adding that Makinde’s administration is the most friendly workers-government in the state.

“Workers in Oyo State were treated badly in the last administration through owning of salaries, none payment of pensioners gratuity, delayed in workers promotions, and illegal dismissal of some workers among others.”

Penpushing reports that, Titilola-Sodo, noted that government-labour relationship has been rough since 2014 because a lot of issues had been coming on board which started as a result of poor economic problem affecting some states in Nigeria.

The former union leader pointed out that interaction and engagement with labor by the present government has been made easier since Makinde’s assumption of office as the State Governor.

“Labor is a very critical sector in any government, we had series of engagement with Governor Seyi Makinde when he came on board and we started seeing positive changes immediately after our meeting.”

The Special Adviser highlighting efforts of the Governor towards betterment of workers life across the state noted that the present government has paid over N13 billion arrears of gratuity of pensioners in the state, adding that the governor has also ensured prompt payment of salaries of workers in the state every 25th of each month.

“Governor Makinde has increased maternity leave of pregnant workers from three months to six months, the workers now enjoyed payment of 13th month salary, he reinstated wrongly dismissed staffs, also, training and retraining of workers’.

Penpushing further reports that, he  however said that the government shall keep faith in workers of the state, adding that, that is why one of the priority of Makinde’s administration is welfarism and creating enabling environment for the workers.
