A toddler and two other persons were on Wednesday killed in a gas explosion which occurred at Oke-Egunya community located along Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Road in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State

Penpushing reports that a witness said the sad incident occurred at about 3pm when a technician was topping up gas of a faulty refrigerator which attracted fire from, a resident said to be cooking with firewood.

“In the process of topping up gas into the refrigerator, there was an attraction of fire from someone cooking with firewood and there came an explosion,” the witness lamented.

Penpushing further reports that, the Director of Fire Service in the state, Fatai Adefala, confirmed the incident, adding that following receipt of a  distress call, his men rushed to the scene.

The fire service Director stated that on arrival at the scene, it was discovered that it was gas explosion and also confirmed that three were burnt to death  having being caught up with the explosion.

“We received a distress call at 3:15 p.m. at Oke-Igbore. We learnt it was a spark of fire. On getting there, we discovered it was a gas explosion. What really happened was that they were cooking outside with fire and unfortunately the gas exploded’, he said
