Payback: Federal lawmaker, Isiaka Ibrahim empowers constituency with N20million

A member of the House of Representatives Hon Isiaka Ibrahim, has donated the sum of N20million for various development program and empowerment of the people of Ewekoro/Ifo Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that the federal lawmaker on what he called ‘pay-back’ gave a sum of N1.5 million for distribution to petty traders in Ifo and Ewekoro local government, released N2.5 million to community development committees in the constituency.

The lawmaker representing Ewekoro/Ifo constituency at the National Assembly in the same vein gave youths and sundry entrepreneurs 25 units of POS machines and kiosks with take-off fund of N3.750 million.

Penpushing further reports that, additionally, Ibrahim gave N10 million worth of transformers to improve electricity distribution in the rural areas of his constituency.

The event was chaired by Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noinmat Salako-Oyedele, represented by Mr. Seyi Ogunseye, Senior Special Assistant and attended by a cross-section of traditional rulers in the constituency.

Penpushing also reports that, the traditional ruler of Akinale in Egba kingdom, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye in his remarks noted that the slow pace at which poverty is being challenged in Nigeria is an indictment on the wealthy Nigerians.

The royal father emphasised that politicians elected to represent their various constituencies in both the National and State Assemblies, are not left out for failing to ‘pay back’.

Penpushing also reports that, Ogunleye speaking at a town hall meeting in Itori commended Ibrahim for his gestures, and called on other elected political office holders to emulate the gestures of pay back to the populace.

The Towulade pointed out that  program by politicians elected into public positions has added to the baneful influence of poverty in Nigeria, stressing  it is calling for a paradigm shift in the condition precedent to supporting candidates for future elections.

Penpushing reports the journalist turned monarch declared that reckoning time is now when all politicians who rode at the back of the populace to their positions of fame should account for their contributions to the development of their constituencies as well as empowerment of the people to take them out of poverty base.

The royal father posited  that, as their average performance is deficient, he declared that , future electable politicians should sign undertakings with their electorates, for care of their constituencies while in positions, as condition precedent to their being sponsored for elections.
