Shasa crisis: Kano state government doles out N18.5million to indigenes

The Kano State government has released the sum of N18,5million  to its indigenes whose shops were burnt during the crisis which erupted between traders in Shasa market located in Akinyele Local government of Oyo State.

Penpushing reports that, the Commissioner for Information in Kano State, Alhaji Gabar Muhammed who led the delegation of thee state government to Ibadan on Tuesday to disbursed the money said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje felt concerned about the incident.

The Commissioner added that the Governor has directed his team to come and visit the 185 victims and also deliberated on how they can stay in Ibadan to go about their normal business activities which is their only source of livelihood.

“We are here on behalf of the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje to bring succor to indigenes of our state who were affected in Shasa market crisis in Ibadan, although the Governor, together with some Northern Governors were in Ibadan yesterday, but he has directed us to come and visit our people to know about their welfarism and gives them a kind of support so that they can survived’.

Penpushing further reports that, Muhammed said the delegation had already interacted with the victims to know their challenges, adding that the team will tendered their complaints to the State Government so that it can relate it with Oyo State government.

The Commissioner for Education in Kano State, Alhaji Muhammed Sanusi who was also in the delegation noted that the support from the state government will be a continuous process, adding that the team will also reached out to other victims who had already left Ibadan for Kano State for the safety of their lives.

“We have discussed with our people who are directly involved in this crisis, and we are here to support them with little cash for them to get some clothes and food, some of them have only one cloth, we really want to give them support, we have compiled our reports and we are going to submit the reports to state governor”.

Penpushing also reports that, he however called on Nigerians to allow peace to reign in the nation, saying that security issues in the country is now becoming alarming on daily basis, adding that there should be synergy between security agencies and the state governments.

The Chairman of Shasha Traders Association, Alhaji Usman Nyako while receiving the donation of the cash said that he lost more than N20 million  to the crisis in Shasa, adding that his house, cars and trucks were set ablaze by the angry mob, while he only managed to escape.
