The tenure of the retired Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu has been extended by the Nigerian President, Muhammed Buhari, who is also expected to end his tenure in 2023 as the country leader.
Penpushing reports that, the three months tenure extension of the police chieftain was announced on Thursday by the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja
The Minister said the three months extension of tenure for Adamu was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor, and this explanation came when the expiration of the tenure of the police boss was not impromptu having attained 35 years mandatory service period.
Penpushing further reports that Adamu was due to retire from the police last Monday having spent the maximum 35 years in service, but remained in office, and still performed official function till when Buhari approved tenure extension for him.
