Penpushing member loses million naira worth farm products, as suspected herdsmen set farmland ablaze

Suspected herdsmen have set ablaze five hectares of plantain farm in Laweda village located in Odeda local government area of Ogun State, with farm products estimated at N3. 6million consumed by the inferno.

Penpushing reports that, the farmland belonging to Dr Adewunmi Alayaki, a member of Penpushing platform was allegedly razed by the runaway suspects on January, 28, 2021,a development which caught the villages unaware.

The incident is said to have being reported to the police by the farm manager, as at the time of filing this report, as sources said, efforts to track the suspects ongoing, with about 3,600 stand of plantain burnt to ashes.

Penpushing further reports that, Alayaki when contacted confirmed the worrisome development, adding that as at the time of filing this report, he was afraid to visit the farmland, and expressed shock

The Medical Director of Hope Hospital located in Adigbe area of the Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, lamented that the plantain farm was completely razed down by the suspected herdsmen, who after the crime disappeared into thin air.

‘The suspected herdsmen went to raze down my plantain farm completely,  in fact I don’t know what to do next. This happened in my own plantain farm, I don’t know why we have to be doing this to ourselves in this country. 5acres of plantain farmland completely razed down’, Alayaki lamented.

Penpushing also reports that, Alayaki said his farm manager has reported the case to the police, stressing that about 3,600 stand of plantain set ablazed if valued at 1000/bunch, is estimated to the tune of N3.6million on harvest

‘I don’t know what will happen next to the cassava and palm tree sections next, in fact, I’m afraid to visit the farm, take it or leave it, this country is not safe at all. It happened on the 28th January, 2021 at Laweda village, Odeda local government. My farm manager reported it to the police. About 3,600 stand of plantain if valued at 1000/bunch, that’ll be 3.6m/harvest’, he stated
