Former Nigerian Information Minister under the administration of former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida during his(Babangida) military dictatorship between 1986 and 1990,Tony Momoh has died at 81

Penpushing reports that the Nigerian Government in swift response to the family announcement of the demise of the veteran journalist commiserated with the media industry on the loss of a journalism icon

The President, Muhammed Buhari in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina said the late journalist stood with him through thick and thin, adding, is brand of loyalty is very rare in the politics of today

Penpushing further reports that, Buhari said he will greatly miss him recalling that as Chairman, Media and Publicity of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) Campaign Organisation in the 2003 and 2007 elections as well as Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Momoh contributed in no small measure to the growth and strengthening of the organisations, leading to the eventual formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President noted that, the late Auchi prince  put in a lot to raise the bar of the journalism profession  in various ways as editor, manager, administrator, President and Trustee of the Guild of Editors/

Penpushing also reports that, Buhari while urging journalists to sustain the deceased legacies condoled with the Auchi Kingdom, the government and people of Edo State on the great loss, and prayed that God will grant the departed eternal rest and comfort family, friends and political associates in this period of grief.

The deceased started his career with the old Daily Times newspaper in 1962 and later rose to be the paper’s editor, and was until his death a member of Nigeria’s ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
