Ogun state government invites specialized Doctors to save tanker fire victims

The Ogun State Government disclosed that it has invited two burns specialists to attend to six victims of the petrol tanker fire incident which occurred on Tuesday along Presidential boulevard in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Penpushing reports that, Governor Dapo Abiodun who confirmed death of three persons in the sad incident  told  journalists after assessment visit of the scene of the incident, said as at the time of filing this report, the specialists have arrived the state,

The Governor  explained that  the six  victims who sustained 90% burnt were receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) and State Hospital, Abeokuta, the state capital respectively, adding that the burns experts after assessing the medical conditions of the six victims, would determine if there is need to transfer  them to the burns specialist hospital in Lagos.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun expressed lamentation that the sad incident occurred within two weeks of the New Year, and commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives, adding that government will do everything possible to encourage the affected families

The Governor said, information at his disposal had it that, the tanker driver lost control due to brake failure while descending from the overhead bridge on the dual carriage road, and trapped some motorists who were burnt to death.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun  declared that henceforth no articulated vehicles would be allowed to ply the overhead bridges in the state, adding that, the government is also considering time limit for when such trucks and articulated shall be allowed to ply the roads in the state.
