The pioneer Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Ogun State Comrade Bode Simeon has been reported dead on Sunday, October 18, 2026 following a failing health, traced to High Blood Pressure.

Penpushing reports that the death was confirmed by the South-West Vice Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Comrade Arabambi Abayomi adding that Simeon was rushed to hospital mid-morning when he had crisis, but was pronounced dead at the hospital

The Vice Chairman in a statement said the death of Simeon was received with profound shock, heavy heart, stressing that the entire progressive family in Ogun State, mourn the sudden passage of the late politician, who he described as pillar and chairman emeritus.

‘A big elephant has fallen. A big Iroko has fallen in the forest of Ogun politics. Comrade Bode Simeon was not just a chairman. He was  Labour Party in Ogun State. He was the pioneer, founding Chairman of Labour Party in Ogun State from inception’, Abayomi wrote.

Penpushing further reports that he said the deceased gave Labour Party (LP), a name, a face, a structure and a soul when nobody believed in it, adding that he stood firm, built the party ward by ward, local government by local government, with his own resources, his own sweat, his own integrity.

The South West Vice Chairman said he knew this because he was there with him, adding that both of them worked together day and night, stressing that he was a builder, a father, a disciplinarian and a democrat to the core.

‘He opened the doors of LP to many of us, including my brother Balogun Engr Michael Olusegun Feyisola, who contested Ogun East Senatorial in 2011 under LP, Comrade Olaposi Oginni the National Secretary for NNPP today. and many others. He laid the foundation. He gave LP in Ogun State its first secretariat, its first excos, its first hope’, Abayomi emphasised.

‘I had the honour of taking over the Chairmanship of Labour Party in Ogun State from him, to continue the solid structure he built, before the grace of God took me to become the National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party — a position I held with pride until the coming of Peter Obi factionalised our beloved party’.

‘That was the legacy of Comrade Bode Simeon — he raised leaders. He did not destroy. Deacon Bode was a comrade in the true sense — honest, fearless, humble, God-fearing. As a Deacon, he brought Christian values into politics. No thuggery, no abuse. Just ideas and organization’, he stated.

Penpushing also reports that Abayomi said Ogun State and South West  Labour Party(LP) will never forget the deceased, adding that his name has been written in gold in the history of progressive politics in Ogun State.

‘On behalf of myself, my family, and the entire Labour Party South West, I commiserate with his dear wife, children, the Simeon family, and the entire Labour Party family in Ogun State’, Abayomi said.

‘May the Almighty God grant his gentle soul eternal rest. May He grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Adieu, Chairman Emeritus! Adieu, Deacon Comrade! Adieu, the Pioneer!’, he stated
