The immediate past Commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Ogun State Police Command, Moruf Salami, who recently retired gloriously after 35 years merritorious service has been honoured with award for his dedication and professionalism while in service.
Penpushing reports that the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni presented the award on Monday September 28, 2026 at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, to the super cop, who until his retirement was Chief Supritendent of Police.
The Commissioner of Police speaking at the colourful event described policing as an arduous national responsibility that demands sacrifice, resilience and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, noting that 35 years of meritorious service to the nation is no mean feat and must be celebrated.
Penpushing further reports that Ojajuni stated that the commendation was not only to appreciate the retiree but also to motivate serving personnel to remain committed to excellence, emphasized that honouring retirees preserves institutional memory and reinforces the force’s value for dedication and professionalism.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Gbenga Adeoye, paying tributes to Salami, for his diligence, dedication and meritorious service, described his career as worthy of emulation, and equally appreciated his sacrifice and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation

The other retired honourees include DSP Olaifa Emmanuel, former 2i/c SWAT; DSP Ayanlola Olatunji, former O/C SIT-REP; DST Saanu John; and DST Anifa Bello, whose exemplary traffic management service had earlier been recognized by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The ceremony also witnessed the presence of the new Commander, SWAT, Ogun State Command, SP Eneye Obeh, alongside other senior officers, serving and retired personnel, families, friends and well-wishers, underscoring continuity and esprit de corps within the tactical unit and the Command.
